Vineyard maintenance
Our award-winning vineyard nestles at the foot of the Malvern Hills. With south facing slopes and a unique micro-climate we grow healthy vines and produce outstanding grapes.
Picked by hand, each grape variety is pressed and fermented separately to produce exceptional wine.
It takes a lot of hard work to maintain the vineyard year-round and to make our award-winning wines.
Our main job at this time of year is pruning. Usually carried out between December and March, we prune one or two-year-old wood.
At around April/May time, the buds begin to break and the shoots grow rapidly, so we need to tie the vines. Through the summer, we will trim and thin leaves and shoots.
Throughout the entire growing season, we need to be vigilant about pests and diseases, so we are constantly monitoring the vines, especially in the spring and summer months.
Between September and October, we begin the process of harvesting. It’s a big job, as all our grapes are picked by hand, so we call on everybody we know for their help!
The grapes are then pressed and fermented separately to produce our exceptional quality wines.
