How to keep wine fresh

We recently brought you our top tips on storing your wine at home, but what about keeping it fresh once you’ve already opened it?
Don’t keep it too long
If you’ve got a good tasting wine, ideally you want to drink it all right? However, if you really can’t manage it, the best way to keep it fresh, is to not keep it for too long.
White wine will last two to three days once open if kept cool in the fridge. The ideal temperature is between 10-16 degrees centigrade.
Avoid oxygen
Once you’ve opened your wine, you’ve already allowed oxygen to get to it. The oxygen helps the bacteria in the grapes turn the alcohol content in wine to acetic acid, which doesn’t taste good.
If you can, try to keep the air away from opened bottles of wine. You can try using a bottle stopper and there are plenty of gadgets on the market now to help, such as vacuum stoppers, where you pump out some of the air when you close the bottle.
Buy online
Don’t forget, you can buy our delicious English Bacchus and Ortega wines via our online shop, and they taste so good, you won’t want to leave them hanging around for too long, but please remember to drink responsibly!
